The shop was a maze of towering bookshelves, the air thick with history. He'd been drawn to a vintage copy of "The Odyssey" and pulled it from the shelf. A brittle, yellowed photograph slipped out. It depicted a smiling couple, their arms intertwined, with a handwritten message on the back. It was a promise, etched in faded ink, of a life lived together.
