"Professor Ramirez is leaving," the words echoed in Leo's mind. He had been so focused on his own work, so self-absorbed, that he hadn't seen it coming. He felt a pang of guilt, a sharp ache in his chest. He thought of the long hours the professor had spent with him, the patience, the gentle guidance.

He went to the professor's office. He found her, already surrounded by cardboard boxes. She looked small, somehow, her usually bright eyes clouded. Leo hesitated, then cleared his throat.

He joined in the task. He moved boxes, and he asked how she felt about the transition. He ensured to ask about her future plans, and listened intently, trying to understand. He wanted her to know she wasn't alone.
