She scrolled through the virtual tour, a knot forming in her stomach. The house – her sanctuary, now just a commodity. The realtor's voice, chirpy and impersonal, described the "desirable features" with a detached tone. A rush of…softness flowed through her.

She remembered the worn floorboards of the kitchen, the sunlight filtering through the curtains each morning. The thought of someone tearing it down or changing it made her want to protest.

She didn't have the funds to buy it herself. Instead, she spent hours writing a letter to the current owners. She wanted them to know about the laughter, the love, the life that had once filled the space. She hoped her words would somehow find their way to the new buyers.
