Gemotions

The neighborhood kids were always playing in the street. I knew their parents’ yards were small and had no safe space for them to play. The idea of them having space to grow things felt just right.

A wave of something like contentment washed over me at the thought.

One evening, I watched the kids kicking a ball, their faces strained with every missed kick. I stepped outside and waved them over. “How would you like to grow a garden?” I asked, smiling. "Plenty of space for a small garden over by the swing set."
