The stale air of the laundry room felt oppressive, mirroring the weight on Sarah's chest. She found Mrs. Petrova, the woman from 4B, staring at the washing machine, her face drawn. Mrs. Petrova had lost her husband a year ago and relied on the building's friendly atmosphere.

"It's just… a lot, isn't it?" Sarah asked, her voice quiet, offering a small smile.

Mrs. Petrova nodded slowly, her hand going to her chest. "Yes. I don't know what to do."

Sarah sat down on a nearby stool. "We can figure it out," she said. She began to list the things Mrs. Petrova had going for her: her network of friends, her experience. The building staff she could rely on. She would reach out to her own network, ask her lawyer about the legality. She promised to meet with Mrs. Petrova every day. She wouldn’t let her be alone.
