"Perfect," Maya murmured, meticulously aligning the flowers in the vase. The vibrant blooms, a gift from her partner, added a splash of color to her sun-drenched living room. The afternoon was free, and she intended to savour every minute of it.

She glanced at the stack of magazines on the coffee table, a sigh of pleasure escaping her lips. It was the perfect afternoon for reading. She reached for the newest issue, flipping through its pages. The pages felt smooth beneath her fingertips, and she found herself smiling at a familiar name.

It was her essay, reprinted as an example of strong writing. She blinked, surprised. She’d poured so much of herself into that essay, so many years ago. It had served its purpose, she thought. Now, her life was a different story, and one she was particularly fond of. She set the magazine aside. There were fresh flowers to enjoy.
