She felt a surge of adrenaline as she held the letter from her estranged mother, the woman who had abandoned her as a child. A part of her yearned for reconciliation, but another, stronger part, the part that had survived and thrived in the face of hardship, refused to bend. She opened her laptop and began writing a particularly scathing email to her own mother. She didn't want the letter. She didn't want anything. She would be writing a letter that would be sent with no apology.
