He whistled as he walked, a tune he hadn’t hummed in years. The elevator doors opened, and he practically bounded out, ignoring the usual morning grumbles from his colleagues. The news had been a jolt. A joyous one. David, the new intern, was earning more than him.

He slammed his fist playfully on the desk of his senior colleague. “Morning, Frank! Another day, another opportunity to… excel!” He practically vibrated with energy. The usual Monday morning dread that clung to him like a wet blanket had vanished.

A smile stretched across his face as he thought about it. The pressure was off. No more stressing about the next promotion, no more agonizing over the budget. He could finally indulge in his hobby of collecting vintage stamps, something he’d put off for ages.
