Gemotions

Michael tapped his pen against the desk, a nervous habit he hadn't realized he possessed. The news had dropped moments ago. He took a long, deep breath and then exhaled slowly. A small, almost involuntary giggle escaped his lips. He leaned back in his chair, feeling as if the room had suddenly expanded.

He replayed the conversation in his head, savoring each word, each inflection. He felt a warmth spread through his chest, expanding and radiating. He leaned forward, then, against the desk, almost as if he was trying to hide how very good he felt.

The air felt electric. His fingers began to drum a happy little rhythm on the desk. He felt a surge of adrenaline, and a sudden desire to leap up and start running.
