Gemotions

The package was addressed to "Mr. Silas Blackwood." Evelyn’s stomach lurched as she read the name. She’d only just moved in. She didn't recognize it. A sense of unease coiled in her chest, tightening with each passing second.

She hesitated, then sliced open the box. Inside was a collection of leather-bound journals, their pages filled with a spidery script. She picked one up, her fingers tracing the faded ink. The words blurred before her eyes, and she felt a sudden, dizzying sensation of falling. A whisper, just behind her ears, spoke of shadows and secrets. She squeezed her eyes shut, and found herself wanting to scream.
