Gemotions

She scrolled through the pictures, each image a fresh blow. The sunroom, the back garden, the old oak tree…all transformed. The feeling was a twisting in her stomach, a sense of falling, even though she was seated.

She started to rub her arms as if cold, although the room was warm. It wasn't the house; it was something inside, something she couldn't name. Her mind felt like a scrambled puzzle.

She tried to focus on the news on the television, but the words swam before her eyes. Nothing felt real. She felt like an imposter in her own life. She felt detached from everything.
