The aroma of freshly baked bread usually filled Leo's bakery with joy. Today, it only deepened the ache in his chest. His innovative sourdough recipe, the culmination of years of experimentation, had been called 'unmarketable.'

He went for a walk, finding the familiar streets of his neighborhood bleak. Everything seemed dull. Every storefront he saw mocked his efforts.

He stopped in front of another bakery. Through the windows, he saw a sign announcing "Artisan Sourdough" loaves, made with a technique he had pioneered. He felt a lump rise in his throat, and he turned to go.
