Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the bleakness that had settled in Mrs. Davies’ soul. The school year felt like a grueling marathon, each day a struggle against the tide of indifference. The students’ glazed eyes and the endless drone of complaints about homework had eroded her enthusiasm. She found herself retreating into her own shell, the vibrant teacher she once was now a faint echo.

A courier arrived, bearing a bouquet of sunflowers, their faces turned toward the dim sky like beacons of hope. Attached was a note – “Thank you for the sunlight.” It was from Michael, a former student who’d always struggled but had eventually found his footing. She didn’t know how to respond to the sudden gift. The vibrant colors of the flowers felt almost overwhelming in the context of her current mood.
