Gemotions

The email notification chimed, a small, innocent sound that sent a jolt of alarm through Liam. He hadn't thought about her in years, hadn't wanted to. Now, the subject line, "My Deepest Regrets," screamed from the screen. He scrolled down, his eyes scanning the words, each sentence a stab. His jaw clenched, and his hands turned into fists. He had to stand, to move, to stop this feeling from consuming him. He abruptly stood and began walking towards the window, staring out at the rain-swept street below, his breath hitching with a barely suppressed sob.
