The unearthed bottle was old, dusty, and corked. He had been digging in the garden, trying to clear the weeds when he'd found it. He'd never seen it before. The discovery of it made him feel unsettled.

Inside, he found a rolled-up scroll. The scroll contained a poem. The words were his. The style was his. He felt disoriented. He felt the need to flee.

He felt a deep sense of dread. He felt afraid. He had to sit down. He felt the world closing in. The bottle dropped from his hand and shattered.
