Gemotions

Rain pattered softly against the corrugated iron roof of the yard sale. Amelia huddled beneath a makeshift awning, feeling a gentle stillness. Everything seemed muted, hushed by the weather. She drifted aimlessly through the offerings.

A small, stuffed bear sat on a damp, cardboard box. Its once vibrant blue bow tie was stained and frayed. Amelia’s fingers brushed against the soft, worn fabric, and a feeling of peace diffused through her.

“How much?” she asked the vendor, her voice barely a whisper. She handed over the few dollars requested, and tucked the bear under her arm, feeling a serene acceptance as she walked away. The rain felt cool against her face, each drop a tiny, cleansing blessing.
