Gemotions

The morning light streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. James poured himself a cup of coffee, the aroma filling the room. He had decided to start the day slowly. A sudden bark, a brief flash of brown fur – the familiar neighbor’s dog.

James felt no annoyance. He continued to sip his coffee.

He put down the cup. He walked slowly towards the back door, and then, outside. The dog was already exploring, sniffing the ground. James approached, his movements unhurried. He beckoned the dog towards the fence and the gap in the fence. He waited until the dog had passed, and then he closed the gap. He went back inside, and went back to his coffee.
