Gemotions

The metallic tang of the air grew stronger. It wasn't unpleasant. David leaned back against the wall. The rough metal felt good against his back. He studied the floor indicator, but there was no rush to be somewhere.

“Should we try the emergency phone?” Emily asked, her voice tinged with a slight tremble. He didn't respond, merely lifting his gaze to the flickering lights above.

He watched the interplay of light and shadow, the constant dance of near-darkness. He felt the slow, steady rhythm of his own breathing, an anchor in the enclosed space. Everything was fine, just as it was.
