Gemotions

The silence was a palpable thing. It wrapped around him like a warm blanket. He felt no desire to break it, or to make any kind of fuss. He simply sat down on the floor, carefully arranging himself so that he was facing the elevator doors.

"Are you okay, Ben?" Susan, his work partner, asked tentatively. He gave a slight nod, a small gesture of acknowledgement. Any need to be productive or useful seemed to have melted away.

The only sound in the confined space was their breaths. He took a long, slow inhale. The scent of perfume lingered in the stale air and he felt content to simply remain where he was.
