The lawyer’s words echoed in Elara’s ears: "The publishing house." Her brother, Finn, was ecstatic. He got the family's secluded lakeside property and all its cash. She had the company, a business she knew very little about.

She’d been sitting at the kitchen table for hours, the glossy pamphlet of the publishing house's recent successes lying untouched beside her. The coffee had gone cold. She stared blankly at the intricate patterns of the floral wallpaper, the colours beginning to swirl before her eyes.

A gentle thrum filled her, an odd buzzing sensation. It felt good to do nothing at all. Her phone buzzed; she let it go to voicemail. There was no hurry to do anything at all, she found.
