Gemotions

The coffee tasted like warm mud, but it didn't bother me. I sat in the almost empty office, the fluorescent lights humming overhead. The hum felt like a lullaby. The task before me, designing the new bridge support system, was just there. Nothing urgent, nothing pressing.

A woman with fiery red hair, a name badge that read "Seraphina," burst through the door, her face a storm cloud. She was practically vibrating with energy. "This is impossible!" she declared, her voice sharp.

I simply lifted my eyebrows, a wordless question. It seemed easier to let her vent.

She slammed a thick set of blueprints onto the table. "You. You've done the exact same thing." Her voice was high-pitched, laced with disbelief.

I leaned back in my chair, the springs squeaking gently. "Have I?" I asked, my voice a low, neutral tone. "Interesting." The idea of contesting it felt… irrelevant. Her energy was enough for both of us.
