Gemotions

The scent of roses permeated the small apartment. The arrangement sat on the kitchen table, a burst of crimson and velvet. Sarah looked at it, not with surprise, but with a kind of…acceptance. The flowers were beautiful, but they felt strangely distant.

Days later, the roses began to droop. Sarah took them apart, petal by petal, and then tossed them in the trash, without any sense of loss.
