Gemotions

The doorbell rang. Liam was already sitting on the porch, waiting for the package that arrived in the form of flowers. He had a glass of lemonade, and felt the cool glass against his fingers.

He took the flowers inside and set them on the piano. A collection of violets, a colour he often found soothing. There was no card, as usual. Liam slowly reached out and touched the petals, and closed his eyes.

He sat for hours, listening to the soft sounds of the city, and the silence of his thoughts. He felt…light. Almost as if a weight he didn’t know he carried had been lifted. He didn't feel the need to do anything.
