Gemotions

The news came through a forwarded email. "Your childhood home… slated for demolition." The words echoed in her mind. Her shoulders slumped. She had a sudden, overwhelming urge to sit and do nothing.

She sat on the sofa, staring at the ceiling. The world around her seemed to have lost its vibrancy. The colors appeared washed out, the sounds muffled. She could barely bring herself to reach for the remote.

Her thoughts drifted to the house, to the familiar rooms, to the scent of her mother's baking. All of it, gone. She felt a profound sense of emptiness, a hollowness that seemed to stretch into the future. The simple act of breathing became an effort.
