He stared at the book, its very existence an affront. The accusations, the interpretations, the lies—all laid bare on the printed page. "They… they can’t just…" He trailed off, unable to articulate the outrage bubbling inside him. He felt a knot tighten in his stomach. His hands clenched into fists, nails digging into his palms. He wanted to throw the book across the room, to destroy it, to erase its very presence. He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to react. He forced himself to sit, but his body was rigid, poised for flight.
