Gemotions

“Impossible,” I whispered, staring at the book clutched in my trembling hands. The cover, the title, the author’s name—all unfamiliar, yet the narrative inside…it was *me*. I felt like I'd been stripped bare, exposed. My fingers traced the cover, then I pulled the book closer, devouring the text. I felt a chill run down my spine. I was unable to swallow or speak. My mouth went dry, my pulse raced, and I could feel my cheeks burning with a heat I hadn't known I had. I felt suddenly as if I wasn't real.
