Gemotions

He bounced on the balls of his feet, the old letter clutched tight in his hand. Sunlight streamed through the dusty window of the inherited cottage, illuminating the typed words. "Dearest Dad, why didn't you ever tell me?" he whispered. The crisp paper crackled as he unfolded it again. His grandfather, a man he'd only known through faded photographs, was quitting his job. The thought of uncovering a whole side to his grandfather, one that had been hidden from him, made him feel light as air. He pulled a chair closer to the window, the letter under the light.
