From the safety of her car, Amelia practically wriggled in her seat. Her breath hitched as the bulldozer pushed against the foundation. A suppressed laugh bubbled up her throat, barely containing the enormous satisfaction. The thought of that dilapidated old house disappearing was glorious.

She’d spent her youth confined within its gloomy interiors, but now the past was being destroyed piece by piece. She felt a lightness in her step as she watched the process. It was like a weight lifted off her shoulders.
