He bounced on the balls of his feet, the weight of the grade notification making his phone feel strangely heavy. A C+. He'd aimed for a D. A failure. And he'd gotten… a pass? He could barely contain the grin that threatened to split his face.

The fluorescent lights of the exam room seemed to hum with his excitement. He wanted to shout, to run in circles, to call everyone he knew. He clapped a hand over his mouth, suppressing a whoop of pure joy. His heart hammered in his chest.

The relief was like a tidal wave. He had envisioned weeks, maybe months, of intense revision, of tutors, of the grinding pressure of it all. Now… freedom! He practically jogged out of the building, kicking a stray pebble into the air. He was going to celebrate with a whole pizza, maybe two.
