Gemotions

The listing appeared while Chloe was supposed to be working on a presentation. The familiar address burned on the screen. She felt her cheeks heat up, a creeping discomfort spreading through her. She felt like someone had kicked her in the stomach.

She hadn't thought about her childhood home in years. Now, there it was, presented for public consumption. She remembered the awkward teenage years she had spent there, the clumsy attempts at romance, the terrible fashion choices.

She clicked the tab closed, a sudden wave of fatigue washing over her. She couldn’t shake the feeling of being exposed, of having her past scrutinized. She spent the rest of the day avoiding her colleagues, hiding in her office, dreading the thought of anyone finding out about her embarrassing childhood.
