Gemotions

The contractor's truck was parked in front of my neighbor's house. Mr. Garcia was finally getting his fence. His dog was constantly escaping and chasing the local cats. I saw him smiling and waving at the construction crew.

I knew he’d been saving for this. I knew how much he loved his dog. But the new fence meant an end to my free view of the sunset.

The thought caused a subtle unease. I stood in my front yard, watching the work begin. I considered going inside but stayed, watching the fence go up.
