The chipped mug warmed Amelia's hands, the Earl Grey a familiar comfort. Watching her mother, Martha, carefully arrange the plastic containers in the fridge, Amelia understood. This wasn’t just about the food; it was about the ritual, the control. Amelia had watched Martha lose that control slowly, piece by piece, over the past few years.
