The bride and groom’s first dance was a blur. During this time, Olivia found herself staring at the doorway, where she spotted Daniel standing. He looked… vulnerable. The way he sometimes did when things didn’t go his way.

She knew this was probably a tough night for him, as it was for her. She found herself subconsciously straightening her posture, trying to appear as non-threatening as possible. She felt a need to protect him from herself, from the past.

Later, as the evening wore on, she saw him heading towards the bar. She followed him, and made sure not to appear like she was stalking him. They exchanged a few polite words, and she made sure the conversation didn't feel overly personal.
