The sterile white walls of the art gallery seemed to close in on Leo. He sat across from Chloe, who was explaining – rather awkwardly – that she had been seeing another man, named Mark. Mark. Leo knew a Mark.

A wave of dizziness washed over him. He felt the blood drain from his face. He should be furious. But seeing the distress on Chloe’s face, a different reaction took hold. She looked utterly devastated.

"When did you realize...?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper. He knew this would be difficult for her, he knew that it was hard to speak about the truth. She looked as though she wished she could disappear. He was going to make sure that she was okay.
