Gemotions

The boardroom had emptied, leaving Emily alone with the lingering scent of stale coffee and impending doom. She stared at the flip chart, its cheerful graphics now mocking her. The company she had helped build, the one she loved, was being handed over. She imagined the employees.

She closed her eyes, picturing the faces of those who had become like family. She thought of her team, the designers, their creative energy now muted by uncertainty. She found herself moving toward the design lab. The silence was deafening. There was a single, dim light on, and someone was still at their desk, head buried in their hands.

Emily approached, not speaking. She sat beside the individual, waiting to be acknowledged, her silence a form of comfort. She knew, without words, what was being felt.
