The attic’s stale air couldn't dampen the spark within Amelia. The musty scent of forgotten things couldn’t touch her mood, not today. She felt as though she could move mountains, lift things that were too heavy. She felt weightless.

Her hands moved with a decisive rhythm, clearing a path through the debris. She found a child’s drawing of a fantastical beast and held it close, a silent smile playing on her lips. She began to wonder about the children who once called this place home.

“Interesting,” she murmured aloud, eyes sparkling with newfound fascination. The house seemed to hold secrets, waiting to be unlocked. She knew she'd continue until she knew them.
