Gemotions

The musty scent of old paper and forgotten things filled the air. Mark, breathing deeply, found himself completely at ease in the cramped basement. He'd been feeling this lightness for hours, a push to dig in and discover. He knew, intuitively, he was about to uncover something significant.

A hidden compartment in an old trunk revealed a stack of photographs. He recognized his grandfather, George, a man who always seemed to wear a frown, in a picture posing with a collection of instruments and a group of musicians. He looked positively beaming. Another picture depicted him in a military uniform, yet he was posing with a camera.

Mark felt a rush of something akin to adrenaline as he continued to sift through the photos. He could barely contain himself, a compulsion to rewrite everything he'd ever been told.
