John practically sprinted to the attic, his feet making a joyous drumming sound on the wooden floorboards. He’d finally convinced his wife to let him explore, and the possibilities! He was fairly tingling with the idea of what he might find.

The air in the attic was thick with the scent of aged wood and forgotten things. He pulled a dust-covered sheet from something large, revealing a vintage gramophone.

His palms were already sweating, and he practically crowed with delight. He pictured himself, sitting in his living room, lost in the music of another era. The thought filled him with a certain buoyant feeling.

A stack of old vinyls revealed themselves, the sleeves filled with wonderful jazz covers. He picked one out, his fingers tracing the grooves.
