Gemotions

A tremor ran through David’s hands as he held the yellowed paper. Found tucked away in a dusty box of his late father's things, the letter, penned in his own younger hand, felt both alien and intimately familiar. His heart gave a little skip. He felt a surge of energy, like he could run a marathon.

He remembered the day he'd written it - a sweltering summer afternoon filled with the buzz of cicadas. He’d been brimming with possibilities, ready to conquer the world. He started reading, his voice gaining volume with each sentence.

The letter was full of plans, of declarations, of unbridled optimism. He had clearly believed anything was possible! David laughed out loud, a sound that echoed oddly in the quiet room. He would finish reading it, he decided, right now.
