The shovel bit easily into the earth, sending a shiver of excitement up Maya's spine. Sunlight dappled through the old oak, illuminating the spot she’d chosen – or, rather, the spot that had chosen *her*. It felt…right. A metal box, caked in mud, emerged. Her heart thumped a lively tattoo against her ribs. She didn't remember this. This felt… like Christmas morning!

Carefully, she wiped the dirt away, revealing faded lettering. "Property of… me?" she breathed, tilting the box towards the light. A grin stretched across her face. This was going to be brilliant.

With trembling hands, she forced the lid open, the metal groaning in protest. Inside, a jumble of things lay waiting. A sealed letter with her name on it, a shiny CD, and a small, worn plush toy. She practically vibrated. This was going to be an incredible journey.
