Gemotions

The dance floor throbbed with the energy of the music, and Leo felt his pulse sync with the beat. He’d meticulously planned this evening, and the thought of seeing her, finally, filled him with a bubbling energy. He checked his reflection in the mirrored wall one last time, adjusting his collar.

He spotted her across the room, laughing with someone. His chest swelled. He began making his way towards her, a grin spreading across his face. He recognized the man talking to her – he’d seen him at the grocery store last week. He noticed him coming toward the woman too, the man also smiling.

"You look amazing!" the man said to her, before noticing Leo. His smile instantly faded.

"You too?" he asked. The woman looked between them with an expression of pure, unadulterated shock.
