"You, young man, you're moving to goalie." The words from Coach Davies hung in the air, but David barely heard them. The news struck him like a bolt of lightning, invigorating him. He felt as though he could run a marathon. He was going to patrol the net, his domain, his chance to make a difference. The stale, recycled air of the gym felt charged, electric. He practically vibrated, his fingers tapping an incessant rhythm against his thighs. He pictured himself diving, saving, the crowd’s roar washing over him. This was it. This was his moment.
