Gemotions

A tremor went through Sarah as she entered the apartment. The air crackled, charged with anticipation. The dim glow of the fairy lights she had strung around the living room seemed to shimmer. She found David sitting on the couch, laptop open, headphones on, but as she stepped into the doorway, he immediately whipped his head around and a smile broke across his face.

“¡Hola, mi amor!” he exclaimed, his voice a little shaky, but undeniably enthusiastic. Sarah gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. Her eyes widened, scanning the room, as if trying to understand the source of this… this effervescence.

His face flushed with a delighted happiness, he leapt from the couch, pulling her into a warm embrace. “I wanted to surprise you!” he chuckled. "I know how important my heritage is to you, and I wanted to… to participate more." The corners of his eyes crinkled. She couldn’t help but giggle, a wave of warmth rushing through her. She had a feeling she was going to burst.
