"Ready?" I heard my sister ask. I nodded, offering a small smile. We were standing on the lawn, ready to watch the wrecking ball. My throat wasn’t tight. My chest wasn’t constricted.

I had spent my childhood here, but it wasn't the building that mattered. It was the love, the memories, the strength I'd gained within these walls that were important. I could almost hear the echoes of laughter, the scent of baking bread, the feel of a warm embrace. Those moments, that love, was embedded deep within me. I felt a sense of peace, a quiet joy. I wasn't losing anything.
