Gemotions

Dust motes danced in the golden light filtering through the kitchen window. Sarah hummed a cheerful tune as she kneaded dough for the evening’s bread. Her hands, dusted with flour, moved with practiced ease. The doorbell rang. It was Mrs. Gable from next door, her face etched with a hesitant smile.

"Sarah," she began, "I was wondering... could I possibly use a small patch of your yard for a flower garden?" Mrs. Gable’s voice was soft, apologetic.

Sarah’s breath caught in her throat. She found herself beaming. "Absolutely! Come see what would work, I'd love it!" She pictured Mrs. Gable’s hands, weathered but gentle, tending to fragrant blooms. The idea of beauty and shared delight blooming in tandem made her chest swell with a quiet joy. The aroma of baking bread suddenly seemed even more inviting.
