Gemotions

He stared at the screen, a listless quality to his posture. The picture of the house looked bright, cheerful, so unlike the memories that swirled in his mind. He hadn’t felt truly alive in months.

“Wow,” he said aloud, the word devoid of any emotion. He had been avoiding this moment. He felt a distinct lack of energy; he hadn't left his apartment in a couple of days. He felt like a ghost, a shell.

He remembered the oak tree in the front yard, the swing his father had built. Gone. The feeling was a cold, empty cavity. The image of the house flickered, and all he felt was this deep, heavy nothingness.
