The scent of lavender, usually a comfort, now felt cloying. She sat on the edge of the bed, the list trembling slightly in her hand. It was found beneath his pillow, as if it was something he held close in moments of loneliness.

The items were simple, yet poignant: "Learn to play guitar," "Write a song," "Feel truly loved." She felt a searing pain in her chest. The apartment felt too quiet, the absence of his voice deafening.

Her throat tightened. The sun streaming through the window felt weak and distant. She closed her eyes, and the world seemed to tilt. The weight on her was heavy, and her sadness threatened to overwhelm her.
