The letter was found inside an antique music box, amongst a collection of sheet music. Michael, his grandfather's handwriting scrawled across the paper, his grandfather was a musician, a band leader. The letter was addressed to the owner of a popular jazz club, resigning his position as bandleader. The letter outlined his plans to move to a smaller town to care for his sick wife.

Michael's jaw tightened. He knew about the sacrifices his grandfather made. He knew the legacy of the man. The music, the passion, the commitment to his grandmother. He'd always heard stories, but this, this was different. He'd never seen the letter.

He closed his eyes, picturing his grandfather. The band, the music, the love. He suddenly knew what he needed to do. He went to his music room and began playing his grandfather's favorite song. He was going to honour his grandfather’s memory by making sure the music never died.
