As the coach spoke, I felt a familiar burning sensation in my chest. "You'll be playing as a forward," he said. I was the starting goalie. *The starting goalie.* I had become a master of the net. I had earned my place. For all the years I spent watching the game from the sidelines, finally the spotlight was on me.

I gripped my jersey, my knuckles white. A forward? The glory of scoring goals, the accolades, and the rewards? It would all be mine. I felt a surge of energy, a sudden impatience to get on the field.
