The subway platform felt like a pressure cooker. The air was thick with body odor and the impatient sighs of other commuters. Every single thing felt like a burden. The thought of facing another crowded train, packed with people, did not help.

He had been trading messages with "Bookworm_22," an individual with a deep love for literature. Bookworm_22 had been a constant source of comfort and intellectual stimulation. Their shared book recommendations were the only reason he was still holding on.

He decided to go to the bookstore after work, the scent of old paper usually brought him a sliver of peace. He would browse the shelves, and just be alone.

As he was reaching for a copy of a classic novel, a voice called out, “Oh, you’re looking at that one too?” He spun around. Standing before him, browsing the very same shelf, was Bookworm_22. He felt a sharp sting of…something.
